Who was Carlo Acutis?
Born in London in 1991 and raised in Milan, Italy, Carlo Acutis was a young boy who loved soccer, animals, and video games—but most of all, he loved Jesus. From a very young age, Carlo showed an unusual sensitivity to the things of God. He would often accompany his parents to Mass, and by the age of seven, he requested to receive Holy Communion.
Despite his youth, Carlo’s faith burned bright. He attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, and made time for Eucharistic Adoration. He led a life of quiet sanctity, offering his sufferings for the Church and for the Pope. Diagnosed with leukemia at just 15 years old, Carlo offered up his pain with astonishing peace, saying:
“I’m happy to die because I lived my life without wasting even a minute on anything unpleasing to God.”
