In the heart of the Jubilee Year 2025, the Church prepares to canonize a young soul whose life bridged the ancient and the modern: Blessed Carlo Acutis. Born in 1991 and raised in Italy, Carlo was an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary love for the Eucharist and a profound devotion to the Virgin Mary. Continue reading to learn more.
Who was Carlo Acutis?
Born in London in 1991 and raised in Milan, Italy, Carlo Acutis was a young boy who loved soccer, animals, and video games—but most of all, he loved Jesus. From a very young age, Carlo showed an unusual sensitivity to the things of God. He would often accompany his parents to Mass, and by the age of seven, he requested to receive Holy Communion.
Despite his youth, Carlo’s faith burned bright. He attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, and made time for Eucharistic Adoration. He led a life of quiet sanctity, offering his sufferings for the Church and for the Pope. Diagnosed with leukemia at just 15 years old, Carlo offered up his pain with astonishing peace, saying:
“I’m happy to die because I lived my life without wasting even a minute on anything unpleasing to God.”

Carlo’s deep devotion to Christ was beautifully paired with his love for technology. A self-taught coder and designer, Carlo began building websites at a young age. His most well-known project was a website cataloging all the documented Eucharistic miracles throughout history—an online museum of divine encounters with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
This unique blend of faith and digital innovation made him stand out. Carlo believed the Internet could be used for good, to spread the Gospel and bring people closer to God. He would say:
“The Internet is a gift from God, but we must use it correctly.”
The miracles that mark his path to sainthood
The road to sainthood is paved with grace, and in the case of Blessed Carlo Acutis, that grace has touched lives in deeply tangible ways. The first miracle attributed to him occurred in Brazil, where a young boy suffering from a rare pancreatic disease was instantly healed after his family prayed for Carlo’s intercession. The case was rigorously examined and approved by the Vatican, leading to his beatification in 2020. A second miracle—currently under review—involves another extraordinary healing, one that reflects not only divine intervention but the profound reach of Carlo’s spiritual presence across the world. These miracles reveal that his influence is alive, active, and continuing to inspire faith in the hearts of believers.

Although not yet formally canonized (his canonization is in process), Carlo was beatified in 2020 by Pope Francis and is widely recognized as the Patron Saint of the Internet. This title reflects his mission of using the web as a tool for evangelization and spiritual education.
He is the first Millennial to be beatified—a role model for young people navigating the complexities of the digital world. Carlo Acutis embodies the idea that holiness is not reserved for the few, but is possible for everyone—even in jeans and sneakers, behind a keyboard.
Carlo Acutis speaks to a generation bombarded with noise. His life reminds us that faith, when rooted in love, can flourish anywhere—even in cyberspace. As his canonization nears, may we draw close to his heart and walk the path of spiritual originality he paved.
