Flanked by Alpha and Omega letters symbolizing Christ's eternity, the Chi-Rho symbol is a shortened name of Christ in Greek. The Chi-Rho monogram is then surrounded by a victorious laurel wreath, emphasizing the triumph of Christ's resurrection. Constantine was the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity. He granted religious toleration to Christians with the Edict of Milan in 313 and supported a peaceful transition to Christianity.
