St John the Evangelist was an Apostle of Jesus. The Christian tradition identifies him with the author of the fourth Gospel. In the Gospel he proves himself "theologian", considered worthy to contemplate the glory of the Son of God, announcing what he saw with his own eyes. Patron Saint of writers, editors and theologians — but also of virtuous feelings such as love, loyalty, friendship — he was reputedly one of the most fervent leaders of the early Christian Church.
