St Cecilia medal represents this Roman martyr playing a small organ. The 4th-century Acts describe her as follows — “At the organ sound, Cecil turned to the Lord and prayed.” Saint Cecilia was condemned to death and died from the wound received during the execution. Her remains are guarded at the Basilica of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, in Rome.
