St John the Evangelist was an Apostle of Jesus. The Christian tradition identifies him with the author of the fourth Gospel. Patron Saint of writers, editors and theologians — but also of virtuous feelings such as love, loyalty, friendship — he was reputedly one of the most fervent leaders of the early Christian Church.
