Saint Therese of Lisieux, also called St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, is usually depicted wearing the Carmelite habit, holding the Cross and a bouquet of roses. On the centenary of her death, Pope John Paul II named a “Doctor of the Church”, which made her the third female saint to receive such title. Patron Saint of the aviators, missionaries, orphans, and of France, invoke her to ward off infectious diseases. The handcrafted and hand-painted details almost bring her to life, as they highlight the magnificence of such an important figure in the history of Christianity.
