Dedicated to Mary’s Assumption, celebrated on 15 August, the Sistine Chapel is one of the most famous places of the Vatican and the heart of many touristic tours. Built between 1475 and 1481 under the pontificate of Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere, from which it takes its name, it is well-known worldwide for its extraordinary artworks that adorn its walls and ceiling and for being the place where the Papal Conclave meets for the election of the next Supreme Pontiff.
